Firstly, who are we?
Tutto Food Co. (Including BABA G brand) is a catering company that specialises in cooking paella at weekend markets and private functions. We have been operating at Neighbourgoods in Braamfontein and Fourways Farmers Market for a few years now. The company has been growing very quickly and has the best team in the business. We are young, vibrant, food loving people from a range of backgrounds such as engineering, jewellery design, sound engineering, arts, medicine and many more. The team talks fast, works damn hard and is always up for a challenge. We've all learned how to cook this dish by practicing in markets which is both our public face as well as our training ground. We are currently JHB based.
Who do you need to be?
What's important is that you need to fit into the team. You've got to love food, be up for any challenge thrown in your direction, speak well and be open and outgoing because ultimately this is a sales job. The more you know about cooking the better, but this definitely isn't a necessity - if you get stuck in and take everything in you'll learn quickly. High energy people are the best fit in this business. Most of the work is on the weekend, but sometimes there are also jobs during the week - the more you work, the more you earn. You've got to be able to get to markets and events on your own, with exceptions when we work further away from the CBD area in which case we can give lifts and arrange car pools with other team members.
What do you need to do?
CV's are great, but for this job we need to see you, hear you and get a feel for who you really are. Because of this, our recruitment is a little different. We need you to make a video of yourself (or get your best friend, lab partner or mother to help) and tell us a few things:
Your name, nicknames, age and what you are studying (if you're a student) or what you do with your time (if you're not)
What your favourite thing about food is (what you love to cook, eat, look at, smell... any memory of food that made an impression etc.)
A new ingredient has been discovered called a Tutterino. We need you to tell us in the video:
What this ingredient is (wikipedia won't help as this is all fictitious)
What they taste like (Imagine similarities and think about flavour groups like sour, sweet, umami etc.)
How you like to cook Tutterinos (char grilled and served on a bed of rocket with a mayonnaise dressing; boiled and then seasoned... be creative)
We will watch your submissions, discuss and then get in touch with those who have made it through to the trial run round. If you do not hear from us afterwards, you have not been selected as a candidate for the next round.
